About Us
My painting took a back burner when I decided to change things up and take a career in healthcare for 10 years. (What was I thinking :)) During those 10 years, I never picked up a paint brush, and I felt my authentic self slowly slipping away. My Wave Series encompasses my journey of finally finding my way back to my authentic self. It was not until I completed my first piece in that series, “Crashing Forward”, that I truly realized this was my compass guiding me in a direction back to feeling fulfilled in my work.
I find the most peace, clarity, and inspiration in the little things in life… being surrounded by nature and my loved ones, standing near the ocean, and time in my studio. When collectors look at my art, I want them to feel that same sense of peace and clarity… and above all, I hope my art brings you joy!
The majority of my works are a style that borders on impressionism and realism, I do enjoy switching it up by creating abstract realism and experimenting with using different mediums. I particularly enjoy painting the ocean. I fell like it’s where realism leans into abstract, with the shapes that are formed in the waves, the textures of the seafoam, and the lines that create movement.
Most of my work is created on gallery wrapped, archival canvas, using heavy body acrylic paint and mixed media to add texture and depth to my paintings. I do like to mix it up sometimes by using oil paint or creating resin art.
I usually approach a painting by loosely sketching in the main composition with a paintbrush, blocking in the main colors and shapes, then I begin to build layers with color value and texture by using different mediums, applied with a variety of brushes and pallet knives, ( I even use my fingers to apply paint occasionally :)) I like to leave texture in my paintings so the collector can feel the artwork.
With each piece, my intention is to use color and composition that creates a meaningful connection and joy for those who collect it.
